Community Photo Submission Update

The community photo submission deadline officially closed on May 16, and we are deeply grateful to have received around 100 photo stories from local residents, organizations, youth groups, artists, schools, volunteers, and community leaders.

Behind these 100+ photos are hundreds of ordinary people who quietly chose to step forward for the community: students mentoring younger children, parents running zero-waste stations, scouts restoring gardens and historic spaces, artists creating public art, musicians performing for seniors, volunteers organizing food drives, cultural groups building bridges across traditions, and neighbors helping neighbors in ways both large and small.

Together, these photos tell the story of a town shaped not only by history, but by everyday acts of kindness, creativity, leadership, service, and connection.

On May 30 from 8:00–9:00 PM at Depot Square, these community stories will come alive through a public projection mapping experience created by local students, artists, volunteers, and organizations. We hope people of all ages will join us for an evening under the lights to celebrate the spirit of Lexington and recognize the many citizen heroes around us.

Sometimes a community is not defined by the loudest voices, but by the quiet decision to take one small step forward.
