Event Recap
The May 30 projection mapping celebration at Depot Square was a joyful evening for the whole community. More than 200 people came together to enjoy a glowing visual story made from 108 heartfelt photos contributed by 32 local community partners. LexMedia captured the excitement as families, neighbors, and organization members gathered to watch their images bloom across the beautiful façade of the History Museum.
The atmosphere was immersive. Laughter, applause, and cheering filled the night as audience members recognized their own organizations in the projections. It was wonderful to see community members celebrating one another, sharing pride, and inspiring each other through the power of art and storytelling. We’re already looking forward to future projection mappings that bring Lexington together again.

About the Event
On May 30, students from the Youth STEAM Initiative will present “Illuminate Heritage: Lightscapes of Lexington,” an immersive projection mapping experience that transforms local architecture into a living story of community at the Lexington Depot from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Guided by a Lexington-based university professor, students use light, animation, and real community imagery to explore a simple idea: what does it mean to step forward?
Through a series of visual scenes, from quiet moments of need to acts of service, creativity, and leadership, the program highlights “citizen heroes”: individuals and groups whose everyday actions shape Lexington. Rather than spotlighting a few, the experience reveals the collective impact of many.
As the projections unfold, one message emerges:
It starts with a choice. And the next step could be yours.
